Your dog should not be home alone all day
Dogs are not built for long stretches alone.
Most can manage a few hours. But a full workday (8, 9, sometimes 10 hours) is a long time. An empty house with nothing to do, boredom sets in, anxiety builds. Some dogs bark. Some chew. Some just wait by the door the whole time.
Dog daycare is not a luxury. For dogs who need company and stimulation, it is genuinely part of caring for them well.
At Swirly and Friends, your dog spends their day the way dogs are meant to. Moving, playing, socialising and resting in their own time. In a real home, with people who are actually there.
Daycare at Swirly and Friends
🌅 Morning drop-off — Your dog arrives and settles in. Familiar faces if they have been before. New introductions done carefully and at their pace if it is their first time.
☀️ Through the day — Playtime indoors and outdoors. Downtime when they need it. Socialisation with resident pets and the regulars they have come to know. We watch energy levels, temperaments and how everyone is getting along — adjusting the group dynamics when needed. Photos and videos sent to your WhatsApp so you can peek in on their day without interrupting your own.
🌆 Pick-up time — A spent, happy dog. The kind of tired that comes from a full day of real activity, not from sitting alone. The kind of happy that tells you it was the right call.
"Christina and Andrew are incredibly caring and friendly. We feel completely at ease leaving Dango in their care for daycare. They also provide 2-3 updates daily, which keeps us informed and reassured. Dango also gets to roam freely, which adds to the wonderful experience!"

Daycare is how we get to know your dog
The first daycare session is how we learn about your dog, how they play, how they communicate, how they respond to new people and new animals.
We require a trial daycare session before any boarding stay so when your dog does come for an overnight stay, they already know this place.
They already know us. The transition is smoother, the settling time is shorter, and the whole experience is better for them and for you.
Many of our most loyal boarding clients started with a single daycare session. Some bring their dogs weekly now. A few have been coming for years.
Who is daycare for?
Daycare works really well for:
🏢 Working pet parents — Long office days, back-to-back meetings, WFH days that need actual focus. Your dog gets a full day of company while you get an uninterrupted one.
✈️ Day trips and errands — Out for the day but not overnight? Daycare is the perfect in-between.
🐕 High-energy dogs — Dogs that need more stimulation than a morning walk can give them. A full day of play makes a real difference.
🐶 First-time boarders — Starting with daycare before an overnight stay helps anxious or shy dogs get comfortable at their own pace.
🏠 House renovations or visitors — When home is noisy, chaotic or just not the right environment for the day.
Before you book
- All dogs must be healthy, tick-free, flea-free and up to date on vaccinations and preventives. See full vaccination requirements here.
- A paid trial daycare session is required before your dog's first boarding stay. This is not just a formality, it genuinely helps your dog settle in better. Please allow at least 2 weeks' notice before your intended boarding date.
- Breed acceptance depends on temperament, sociability and how transparent you are about your dog's behaviour. We assess each dog individually, there are no blanket breed bans.
- Not sure what to bring? Read our 5 tips to prepare for boarding here.
Questions about dog boarding
Fresh filtered water is always available. Please bring your dog's own food. Every dog has their own diet, portion size and preferences, and keeping their routine consistent helps them settle in faster.
We send photos and videos to your WhatsApp throughout the day, not just once, but regularly. You can also message us anytime and we will reply as soon as we can. You will never be left guessing.
This is exactly why we do a trial daycare session first. It lets us see how your dog interacts before any overnight stay is involved. If your dog needs more space or a slower introduction, we will tell you honestly and work out whether more daycare sessions are needed or if boarding is the right fit for them.
It depends on how the medication needs to be given, and how willing your dog is to take it.
Some dogs need to be hand-fed or gently guided. If a dog is not comfortable with strangers and may bite, we will not force it. For oral medication, we will try to mix the medication into their meals, either whole or crushed, depending on what works best.
We do our best to follow all medication schedules carefully. Just let us know in advance so we can prepare and care for them properly.
