She's also the reason all of this exists.

When Swirly was young, we sent her to a well-known pet boarder in Subang Jaya. We trusted the recommendation. But when we picked her up, we found out things had gone wrong — things we were never told about while they were happening.

Swirly had been left outside on the porch during a thunderstorm. Rain, thunder, lightning — alone outside. The boarder had gone on holiday without telling us, leaving her parents to take over. We only found that out at pick-up. And Swirly's leash had been damaged — also not mentioned until we were standing at the door collecting her.

We were upset. But more than that, we kept thinking: if this happened to Swirly at a recommended place, how many other pets are going through the same thing right now?

That question stayed with us.

During the pandemic, we started fostering dogs and cats — and found forever homes for 25 of them. When restrictions lifted, some of those adopters asked if we could look after their pets. Those were our first clients.

Christina left her corporate job to do this full-time. She has never looked back.

Swirly and Friends exists so that no pet ever has to go through what Swirly did. Every furkid here is treated the way we would want Swirly to be treated — safe, loved and never alone.
